Kasba Gangrape: Court sends all 3 accused to 7-day police custody
BJP workers held a protest march on Tuesday from Barrackpore railway station towards the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, demanding action in connection with the Kasba gang-rape case. Police had placed barricades near Chiriyamor and deployed a large force in anticipation of the demonstration. Despite the arrangements, BJP workers broke through the barricades and reached the gates of the Commissionerate office. The situation escalated with pushing and shoving at the site, prompting the police to convert the area into a high-security zone.
Arjun Singh, who led the march, said, “Police brought water cannons to scare us. But no force can stop us if we are determined.” He alleged that “the police are working at the behest of the Trinamool.” The protest caused traffic disruptions and drew large crowds in the area. BJP has demanded strict action in the Kasba case and stated that protests will continue until justice is delivered.
